Kooru Shou Sugi Ban Cold Plunge Tub, 60 Gallon

The Kooru is a wooden cold plunge tub finished in the Japanese tradition of shou sugi ban. Every board is hand selected, then carefully fired and sanded, giving the tub a deep, textured surface that looks at home beside a sauna, on a deck, or in a garden wellness corner.

It holds about 60 gallons (227 L), which makes it a practical size for a single plunger after a hot round. Five finishes let you match it to your sauna, decking or house.

Before you buy

• You need at least 33 in (83.8 cm) of clearance through doors and passages to get the tub to its spot.
• At around 400 lb (181 kg) empty, it takes two people to move it by the corner posts, or a moving trolley.
• Plan for the full weight once it holds about 60 gal (227 L) of water, and set it on a flat, level base that can carry it.
• Budget for regular replacement filters.

Care

Change the filter about every one to two months depending on how often you plunge, and keep the water clean between sessions.
