Sauna Pods

Choosing a sauna pod

"Sauna pod" usually means a compact, self-contained sauna that arrives ready to assemble, rather than a room you build. Every pod in this collection is from Blisspod. That makes comparing easy: the main choices are size, heater type and power.

Infrared pods

Ten of the 13 are indoor infrared pods built from Canadian hemlock. Nine of the 13 listings mention full spectrum heating, which the maker describes as near, mid and far infrared together. Several add a red light panel in the front glass. The listings give a 140°F top setting. Healthline puts typical infrared sauna temperatures at 120 to 140°F (49 to 60°C). If you only need one seat, the Vienna has the smallest footprint, at 72.8 in (1.85 m) tall on the outside.

Power

Most two-person pods list 120V at 20 amps, so check that you have a 20-amp circuit. The three-person Venetian RED and the Vienna RED corner pod need 220V. Read the plug and amp rating on each page before ordering.

Outdoor barrel pods

The Prague is a Canadian red cedar barrel with a shingled roof and full glass back. It comes in 180 x 180 x 180 cm for up to 4 people or 180 x 180 x 240 cm for up to 6. It uses a 6,000 W heater on 220V at 27 amps, and the listing gives a product weight of 970 lb. For more barrels and cabins, see outdoor saunas.

Pods in this collection range from $229 for the portable steam pod to $7,999 for the largest corner and barrel models.
