What you get for under $2,000
At this price most infrared saunas are 1- or 2-person indoor cabins made from Canadian hemlock or spruce, with carbon or ceramic heater panels and a 120V plug-in or a dedicated 240V circuit on larger models. Spending a little more usually buys more seats, full spectrum heaters (near, mid and far infrared), red light therapy panels, lower EMF ratings or cedar wood.
How to choose
- Seats: a 1-person cabin fits a corner; a 2-person cabin is the most popular size and leaves room to stretch out.
- Heater type: far infrared is the most common and affordable; full spectrum adds near and mid infrared. See far infrared vs full spectrum.
- Power: check whether the cabin plugs into a standard outlet or needs its own circuit, using our sauna electrical guide.
- EMF: if it matters to you, look for a listed rating, or browse low EMF infrared saunas.
