Best Infrared Saunas: Our Picks by Use Case
Share
The best infrared sauna depends on who will use it, where it will go and what power you have. A one-person cabin in a spare room, a two-person cabin for a couple, and an outdoor cabin on a deck are very different purchases.
This guide sorts picks from our range by use case, using the specs and prices listed on each product. It is not a ranking of every infrared sauna on the market, and we don't make health claims for any of them. Prices are as listed at the time of writing.
How infrared saunas differ
Mayo Clinic explains that a regular sauna heats the air, which warms you, while an infrared sauna heats your body directly without warming the air as much. That is why infrared cabins run at lower air temperatures, typically 45–60°C (113–140°F) according to a 2018 systematic review by Hussain and Cohen. Most plug into a household outlet rather than needing a 240V heater circuit, but check each listing. Our infrared vs traditional sauna guide covers the trade-offs in depth.

Best full spectrum infrared saunas
Brands use "full spectrum" for cabins that pair far-infrared heaters with other infrared emitters. The Blisspod Milano, for example, is listed with five far-infrared heaters and one red glass heater. Compare the heater layout on each listing, since the term is not standardized.
1 person: Medical 3
The Medical 3 ($3,199) is a one-person full spectrum sauna with six heaters at 1,450 W. Exterior: 39 × 36 × 77 in (W × D × H); interior: 36 × 32 × 66.5 in; weight 295 lb.
2 people: Blisspod Milano
The Blisspod Milano ($4,299) is a Canadian hemlock cabin for up to two, with chromotherapy lighting, a soft-touch control with USB, adjustable temperature up to 60°C (140°F) and a 6 mm glass door. Outer dimensions: 74.8 in H × 47.2 in W × 41.3 in D.
If you want more room, the Medical 4 ($5,199) is a 2-person full spectrum model at 1,700 W with six heaters, 48 × 42 × 77 in outside. See all models in full spectrum infrared saunas.
Best outdoor infrared sauna
Most infrared cabins are built for indoors. For a deck or patio, the Two Person Far Infrared Old Fir Outdoor Sauna ($2,651.95) has six far-infrared panels and a waterproof exterior. For more people, the Four Person Old Fir Outdoor Sauna ($3,111.95) has eight panels. Plan a level base and a weather-protected electrical connection. Browse outdoor infrared saunas.
Best for families: Dynamic Vila Grande
The Dynamic Vila Grande ($4,299) is a 4-person full spectrum sauna. Its listing notes a 120V/20 amp plug-and-play connection: it needs a dedicated outlet and breaker, but no hardwiring for the unit itself. More options are in our 3–4 person infrared saunas collection.
How to choose an infrared sauna
- Measure the space. Compare the exterior dimensions to your room, including ceiling height and door clearance for delivery.
- Check the power. Note the voltage and amps on the listing. Many cabins run on 120V, but some need a dedicated 20 A circuit. Ask an electrician if you are unsure.
- Count people realistically. A 2-person cabin is snug for two adults.
- Read the "low EMF" wording carefully. We report what each listing states; ask the brand for test data if it matters to you.
- Plan assembly. Most cabins need assembly. Check the listing and line up a helper.
Using an infrared sauna safely
Harvard Health suggests sessions of no more than 15–20 minutes, avoiding alcohol and medications that may impair sweating, drinking two to four glasses of cool water afterward and skipping the sauna when ill. It says people with uncontrolled high blood pressure or heart disease should check with their doctor before using a sauna. If you are pregnant, take medication or have any health condition, talk to your doctor first. See our guide to how long to stay in a sauna.
